The newly-formed Boston Community Runners saw representatives take the short journey down the A16 to Thorney to compete in a 10K race.
At Bedford Hall, ready for the start of this fast, flat fenland race were Sarah Burton and Samantha Cross, sporting the club’s colours for the first time.
Sarah had an excellent run, keeping a very steady pace over the six-mile distance to record 58.39, taking nearly two minutes off her previous 10K best time.
“When I turned the final corner into the home straight and saw the time I thought ‘yes’,” Sarah said.
“My first sub one-hour 10K, and it gave me the energy for a sprint finish.”
Samantha was recovering from a virus that has affected her breathing, but she completed her aim of finishing the distance without stopping.
