Boston’s Aegon success

Boston Tennis Club’s Men’s Aegon Team Tennis side earned a tense victory over Burton Waters in their Regional Division match this weekend.

Dominic Beesley, Sam Kemp, Henry Beesley and Lewis Fisher competed in the singles round against the Lincoln side, with the round finishing all square.

The doubles matches, which saw Richard Cook come into the Boston line-up, again finished tied, meaning the match would go to a tie-break shootout, which Boston won comfortably.

The Men’s Second team - Andy Clamp, James Newton, David Cheer and Ryan Frankish - lost 5-1 at Bourne in the County Division.

The Ladies’ Second team lost out to St James in the county division, Emma Mastin, Sue Burnett, Charlotte Priestley and Jayne Walsh going down 5-1 in Grimsby.

In mini tennis, Boston Red A beat Deeping conclusively while Boston Red B lost out 4-12 to Grantham A.

Lois Boothby, Isabel Wookey, Paul Aranin and James Gedney made up the A team.

The B team included Joshua Brooks, Jacob Felipes, Emily Stukins and James Burrell.

In the Slazenger Lincolnshire Doubles League, Boston Men’s Ray Frankish, James Newton, Richard Cook, Lewis Fisher, Dominic Beesley and Sam Kemp beat Appleby Frodingham 7-2, while Boston Ladies’ Seconds’ Catherine Ellis, Helen Duckett, Jenny McGarel, Rachel Atkinson, Victoria Beardsley and Mary Smura had a 6-3 win over St James’ Seconds.

The Boston Men’s Fourths (Chris Cook, John Gibson, Ryan Frankish, Richard Tupper, Richard Hart and Fred Calvert) lost 7-2 to Eastgate Second.

The Fifths (Sev Smura, Andy Clamp, Henry Cheer, David Makins, Iestyn Halford and Edward Fowler) went down 8-1 to Grantham Seconds.
