BOSTON powerlifter Nikki Elding has equalled a world deadlift record.

Competing in the West Midlands Championships at Dudley over the weekend, the 43-year-old - taking part in the 50 kilo category - lifted double her bodyweight to equal the 100 kilo world best.

She was also victorious in the deadlift to be named as regional champion.

But the success story didn’t end there as Nikki’s dad Mike Davies also returned with a trophy.

The 73-year-old was also crowned West Midlands champion after his deadlift victory in the 90k weight category.

“It’s a good feeling to go out and compete for Boston and come back as winners,” Mike told The Standard.

The duo were coached at the event by Nikki’s husband Craig, while Mike’s wife Maureen also works as a coach.
