Boston Tennis Club’s A team have won the Lincolnshire Mini Tennis League.

Aspiring youngsters compete on the indoor courts at the Sleaford Road club from October until March, with eight teams from around Lincolnshire taking part.

On Saturday the Boston A team played Woodhall Spa’s Tennis Buddies and victory secured top spot for Thomas Hull, Matthew Dickens, Harvey Vickers, William Cheer, Lois Boothby, Rebecca Dickens, Isabel Wookey and James Gedney.

The matches include four red level players, two orange and two green.

The overall win is decided by the wins at each of the stages.

Boston A finished first at orange and green and were runners up to Eastgate at the red level.

Throughout the season Samuel King and Devon Morgan have also played for Boston A team.

There is still one more weekend of matches to be played and this involves Boston B and Boston C teams - both of which have produced some good tennis and competed consistently and have improved throughout the season.

Boston B team will play Horncastle while the Boston C team is up against Tealby.

Boston Tennis Club member William Cheer played at the Thongsbridge Junior Open and was the runner up in the mini tennis orange event.

In addition to Lincolnshire, there were competitors from Cheshire, Lancashire and North Wales at this Yorkshire tennis club based in Holmfirth.

Matthew Gedney was the runner-up in the under 12 event at Harlow Tennis Club Grade Three Junior Open.

Matthew had three good wins against higher-rated players on his way to the final, before losing out 8-10 on a final set tie-break.
