Boston Tennis Club teams win county titles

Two Boston Tennis Club sides have been crowned county champions.

Boston’s under 16 team won their division and have also been crowned Aegon Team Tennis county champions in their age group.

The team won all of their league matches to finish on top.

Zak McDonnelll-Woods, Sam Felipes, David Cheer and Toby McDonnell-Woods have been representing the under 16s.

The under eight A team have been crowned county champions in their Aegon Team Tennis competition, beating Burton Waters in the Lincolnshire final.

There were lots of long rallies and some close scores, but Boston claimed a tight 9-7 success, thanks to the team of Lois Boothby, Isabel Wookey, James Gedney and Juan Advani.

Paul Aranin has also played regularly in the matches leading up to the final.

Another youngster from Boston Tennis Club notching up the achievements is Matthew Gedney.

Matthew qualified through to the main draw and won his first round main draw match in a Tennis Europe event.

Playing in the Nike junior International Halton tournament, Matthew came through the qualifying rounds to earn a main draw place.

He then won this match but lost out in the next round.

The Boston Tennis Club Men’s second team had a solid 7-2 win against Gainsborough in the second division of the Slazenger Lincolnshire Doubles League.

The team on this occasion were Geoff Short, Owen Jary, Sam Khan, Geoff Presland, Calum McCaig and James Newton.
