Top players from across Great Britain will be fighting it out for the Planetbowls Grand Prix title at Boston Indoor Bowling Club on Saturday.

The competition sees the top 32 players from last season’s Planetbowls ranking list fight it out for a £1,500 first prize, out of a total prize fund of more than £3,500.

Competitors from as far afield as Scotland and Torquay - who spent last season traveling all over the country to pick up valuable ranking points from the 24 opens that were held - will be in action.

Last year’s runner-up Scott Edwards, from Brighton, has again made it through, but last year’s champion Les Gillett has missed the cut.

Local favourites Graham Smith, Danny Brown and Rebecca Field, armed with a host of National titles between them, will try to repel the challenges of number one seed Steve Tuohy (Egham).

The action gets under way at 9am, with the final due to start at about 8pm.

Entry is free and action is also streamed live at www.planetbowls.com
