BOSTON Hockey Club’s Firsts lost out 1-0 at rivals Bourne Deeping Thirds.
From the off Boston looked good, and the opening 10 minutes were a full-on onslaught at the Deeping goal, creating numerous chances.
But as the cliché goes, to win games you have to score goals - and Boston failed to capitalise.
They were punished when a good counter attack and a well-worked cross saw the hosts open the scoring.
Unlike other weeks, this didn’t slow Boston down and, again, the Deeping defence was put through its paces.
Cameron Salisbury and Richard Wightman worked beautifully in attack, with constant link-up play.
One occasion saw them tee up Andy Stone, but a fine save denied him an equaliser.
Connor Gilbert hit the post from a well-worked short corner routine and as the ball went away, so did the away side’s best chance of levelling.
