Bowlers’ county triumphs

Matt Whyers,
Matt Whyers,

Members of Boston Indoor Bowls Club have been tasting success in the County Finals.

Competing at Sleaford, Alex Tomlin and Jonathan West won the Pairs title with a 21-17 win over Spalding’s David Staples and Martin Spencer,

Meanwhile, Adrian Field, Ian Clark and Martin Tomlin beat Spalding’s Jordan Philpot, Ashley Caress and Matt Whyers 18-9 in the Triples.

Whyers, who represents Spalding but lives in Boston, beat Danny Brown from Lincoln 21-0 in the Singles final to be crowned the county champion.

Could there be a final twist in the tale in the T&B Containers Division Two of the Boston Indoor Bowls League?

Long-time leaders Punchbowlers fell 4-2 at the hands of Breakaways this week.

Meanwhile, second-placed Swineshead capitalised on the situation to move ahead of them.

They beat Feathers 6-0 to go two poonts clear with a game to go.
