Bowlers qualify for EBF Championships

Boston Indoor Bowling Club will be well represented at the EBF Bowls Championships at Newark in April.

Jonathan West won the under 25 county singles to qualify while Ron Flowers, Paul Flatters and Les Feary are Boston representatives in the rinks competition.

Dave Allen, Shirley Allen and Ian Clark won through in the mixed rinks.

In the Under 25s EIBA County Double Rinks, Lincolnshire won a close semi-final against Northampton to go to the National Championships at Melton, where they will play Devon.

Boston have two players in the team, Lewis Skinner and Jonathan West.

The semi-final saw an exciting finish on the Boston green.

The away players had won by one at Northampton - Jonathan West facing a losing scenario on the last end on the Boston green - played a superb drawn bowl and the team are on their way to a possible National title.

Jonathan also has a chance for a further visit to Melton he is still in the two-bowl singles he defeated Danny Brown (Lincoln) in the last round 21-19 and now faces Simon Skelton (Nottingham) for a place at the finals.

In the EWIBA Championships in Nottingham, Boston pair Janet Vinter and Jean Thompson are through to the Over 60s pairs finals.

They had an exceptional win against Sue Mart and Pam Cutts (Nottingham).

Jean Thompson was the star of the day as she could not put a bad bowl down.

Boston Indoor Bowling Club will host an Open Day on Saturday, April 1.

The event will run from 10am-noon at the Rosebery Avenue venue.

Anyone aged eight and above is welcome and shoes and bowls will be available to borrow on the day.

Qualified coaches will be available to offer assistance at this free-of-charge event.
