Boston ABC fighter Tommy Upsall fought for the Notts and Lincs Light Welterweight title this weekend.

However, it was opponent D. Wellings, of Grimsby ABC, who received the unanimous decision at Cleethorpes’ Beechcomber Hotel.

The contest was over four two-minute rounds, which suited the style of both boxers.

Wellings was more technical than Upsall, but the Boston man was slowly making progress with his no frills style.

Although the Boston corner felt Wellings deserved to leave with the belt, they believed the bout was closer than the judging suggested.

However, the Boston camp could not believe the decision when Blake Emmerson was not given the nod against Grimsby’s B. Padgett, more than confident their man had bossed the bout.

The local lad appeared to be nervous of Emmerson’s big punches and unable to keep his opponent at bay.
