Matt Whyers will be pitting himself against some of world bowls’ top talents at the Boston Open Singles.

The event, held at Boston Indoor Bowling Club, will see the town’s England international (pictured, left) in action against the likes of Danny Brown, Simon Skelton and Les Gillett - all of whom are currently in the world’s top 55-ranked men’s players.

Former Boston club member Rebecca Field (right) will also be among the entrants.

The competition begins at 6.30pm on Friday, with action continuing from 8.30am on Saturday.

Entry is free to spectators wishing to watch some of the world’s top players.

Former world champion Greg Harlow will, meanwhile, be giving a presentation at an upcoming open night at the Rosebery Avenue venue.

The event will see the former world number one joined by representatives from the English Indoor Bowling Association and organisers Potters Resort.

Following approximately an hour of presentations about the sport, those present will be invited to take to the rinks and enjoy some fun competitions.

Potters Resort hosts the World Indoor Bowls Championships, as well as offering a wide range of sporting and health activities.

And the evening will also see a free prize draw take place, with one entrant winning a four-night break for two at the Great Yarmouth resort.

The event will be held on Thursday, February 12 (doors 6.30pm).
