Captain’s team edges victory in a close Boston Golf Club battle

Boston Golf Club held their Captain versus Vice-Captain competition, a betterball pairs three-quarters handicap competition.

With 14 pairs draw, the seven-a-side match saw captain Tony Miller’s team clinch it from vice-captain Ray Sharp, 7.5-6.5.

The best scoring pair were past captain Pete Keal and partner Amin Annous on 43 points.

Second also on 43 points were Paul Bastock and Tony Reay, with third going to Trev West and Paul O’Connor, another 43.

The ladies’ section played a traffic lights stableford, where two scores from the teams of three counted on each hole.

The winning team of Jean Markham, Jean Flynn, Joan Young and Kay Kadzionis - playing a fourball, adjusted by discounting one player on each hole - scored 34 points over 10 holes.

In second with 33 points were Pam Hyde, Lynn Brown and Chris Sherriff.

A total of 15 ladies set off for the Christmas Turkey Trot, a singles stableford over 10 holes.

Jacquie Short won on a countback with 19 stableford points from Barbara Unwin, also on 19 points.

In third was Pam Hyde with 18 points.
