Carlton Road overtake A40 to top bowls league

A40 were knocked off the top of the Orchard Podiatry Division One of the Boston Indoor Bowls League after a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Eastenders.

A 19-13 from S. Reeson and a last end 16-15 from A. Reeson secured the win.

Carlton Road moved to the top, but they didn’t have things all their own way, a 26-10 from L. Feary enough to beat S. Whyers’ 24-17 reply for a 4-2 win.

Also dropping valuable points were Holland Fen, who let two points slip away against bottom team Jolly Farmers - a 21-16 from J. Maury - but top skip K. French hit back for the title favourites with a 28-5 to claim a 4-2 win.

Royal Mail kept up their good start and continue to be the best of the rest, with a 6-0 win over IBC. K. Sharp (19-13) and A. Hill (22-13) were the matchwinners.

Halfpints hit Swineshead for a big six, M. Brown (27-8) and T. Nunn (28-13) recording victories.

Swineshead are now starting to struggle after their opening week win.

Norprint march on at the top of T&B Containers Division Two after a 6-0 victory over The Crowns, J. Nicholson (23-10) and B. Barton (27-8) successful.

Punchbowlers played a double week and are now glancing over their shoulder.

J. Skelton (25-11) and I. Drury (28-19) earned a 6-0 win against Boston Park, while Parthians succumbed to the same result thanks to T. Bush (21-15) and J. Skelton (13-12).

Golfers were looking to keep pace with the top two but came a cropper against Breakaways, a 20-15 from I. Dilley and a 21-16 from J. Stevens put Breakaways nicely into mid table.

Strollers moved up a couple of places after inflicting Boston Park’s second defeat of the season, but it was tight as a 16-14 from A. Everitt and an 18-18 between D. Butwright and K. Cook added up to a 5-1 win.

Patriarchs and Feathers had a big rink win each, R. Woods (28-5) and G. Dawson (26-7) both winning, which meant a close 4-2 win for Patriarchs.

Poachers struggled this week to a 3-3 draw with Amateurs, E. Ulyatt’s 16-13 matching the 14-11 reply from M. Bolsin.

Cammacks Division Three leaders The Burtons kept up their unbeaten record with a very good 4-2 win over second-placed Vikings, a close 15-11 from R. Sawer was blown away by the 31-8 reply from D. Bailey.

Central are nicely placed after a 6-0 win over Fairways, F. Epton (16-14) and B. Hunn (17-12) both winning.

Shipmates had an equally close 6-0 win over Hotspurs, D. Locking (15-14) and W. Parker (17-13) ending on top.

BBC are on a roll and secured a 4-2 victory over U3 to move into mid-table, T. Vere’s 26-9 overcoming D. Barton’s 23-15 reply.

Sibsey are back on form after a mini slump with a 6-0 win over Traders, C. Russell (22-12) and A. Dunnett (19-18) doing the damage,.

High Flyers recorded their first win with a close 4-2 over fellow strugglers The Autos, a 25-10 from R. Goodale beating G. Slack’s 24-11 reply by two shots.
