WHILE you are tucking into your turkey or knocking back the New Year booze, spare a thought for Boston boxer Callum Johnson.
The light heavyweight is spending the festive period living a Scrooge’s lifestyle.
But it’s not because he has the bah humbug attitude... it’s because Johnson hopes to save his cracker for 2012.
The ????-year-old will spend Christmas Day training as he prepares for his January 27 bout against Dubliner Ciaran Healy.
And as he prepares for what he hopes to be his fourth straight victory since turning pro, Johnson knows if he wants to be trim he’s got to avoid the trimmings.
“There’s no normal Christmas for me this year,” Johnson told The Standard.
“I’ll be training Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.
“It’s nothing new to me, I spent my 21st birthday training.
“It’s not what you really want, but it’s the sacrifice you have to make if you want to succeed in sport.”
