Boston Wheelers’ Matthew Clarke is the club’s new 25-mile champion.

He claimed the title as members competed in the inter-club 25 on a tough Sleaford to Spittlegate course.

Clarke finished the event - which doubles up as the Wheelers’ championship - in 1 hr 02 mins 45 secs.

Martin White recorded 1 hr 03 mins 52 secs, Nick Chapman clocked 1 hr 06 mins 04 secs and Pete Flint crossed the line in 1 hr 10 mins 47 secs.

The Wheelers also took part in a coaching session at Derby Velodrom on Sunday.

Old and young members were given the opportunity to be coached and ride on the track.

Jael Maw took second place in her race at the Doncaster Festival of cycling.

A 39-strong pack of riders started in the under 10s race, where Jael moved through the pack, finishing in a brilliant second place girl on the podium between regular road riders Tia Carr, from Litchfield, and Jessica Lea, from Milton Keynes.

Wheeler Stuart Bartholomew took part in his first sportive - London to Brighton - raising funds for the British Heart Foundation along the way.

He completed the course in 3 hrs 30 mins after only nine months of riding.
