Clean sweep for Boston Golf Club ladies

Boston Golf Club’s ladies’ section won their friendly match against South Kyme, with the home side victorious in every match.

A league match at home to Sleaford saw Boston win 2.5-1.5.

The Boston players were Ruth Simpson and Jean Markham, Claire Rylott and Judith Flevill, Marita Jordan and Maureen Marshall and Fran Grant and Pam Hyde.

The flag competition was won by Judith Flevill, with Lynn Worthington second and Yvonne Shaffarczyk in third.

Pam Hyde and Ruth Street won the Suzanne Cooper Cup.

On Bank Holiday Monday, in a relaxed friendly format, mixed in with glorious sunshine, mixed teams of four competed in a stableford waltz.

The winners were Martin and Yvonne Shaffarczyk, with Malcolm and Pam Hyde.

They scored 87 points.

In second place were captain Tony Reay’s team, which included Julia West, David West and Judith Flevill on 84 points.

Third spot went to Brian and Jane Marriott, with Steve Hodgson and Maureen Marshall on 80 points.

Ted and Pam King with Mark and Erin Brown finished in fourth with 79 pointts.

The third round knockout of the Daily Mail Foursomes was held at Boston GC, with Claire Rylott and Yvonne Shaffarczyk winning 3 & 2 for Boston against Heather Dopierala and Sue Roberts of South Kyme GC.

Boston Golf Club’s Rabbits turned out for the Carter Cup on Sunday with a variety of conditions from wet and windy to brilliant sunshine.

It provided some testing golf for most of the competitors, but J. Gilcrest was the outright winner with an excellent score of 69 nett.
