Speedway youngster Mickie Simpson competed in the third meeting of the Scunthorpe Winter Series this weekend - riding to an unbeaten victory.

After winning heat one it was more of the same in heat two, pipping rival Harry McGurk to first place.

Despite tough challenges from Sam McGurk and Luke Harrison a faultless third heat saw Mickie first home again before the same outcome in heat four.

Heat five Saw Mickie win again, despite Sam McGurk and Coban Pavitt taking up the challenge.

In the final, Mickie chose gate four, with the two McGurks and Pavitt lining up against him.

Mickie got off to a fantastic start and led for the first two laps before Pavitt lunged for the inside line, clipped Mickie’s back wheel and cartwheeled his bike.

The race was stopped and Mickie was awarded the win, with Harry second and Sam third.

The final meeting of the Winter Series will be on March 12.
