Boston and District Athletic Club’s Chris Cope completed Sunday’s London Marathon in a sub-three-hour time.

This was the first time the Gold Top had attempted the 26-mile distance.

Cope was aiming to finish in less than three hours as he pushed himself through the streets of the capital, from the starts at Greenwich Park to Buckingham Palace, where the race ended.

And he finished comfortably inside his target time, crossing the finish line in a time of 2 hours 54 mins and 11 seconds, enough for 496th place in his age and gender category.
