Frithville’s Hermione Wright was delighted with her run in the National Air Training Cadets under 20 junior women’s cross country final this weekend.
The event took place at RAF Cranwell on Saturday with Lincolnshire Clubs and Air Training Cadets from all over the UK competing.
After a cautious start, Hermione stormed through the first woods to third place which she held on to by a good distance.
Although Hermione has had little time to train recently, she felt good after the hard 5km course against much older athletes.
She was first girl home for her club, Nene Valley Harriers.
Her brother William was also a medal winner in the National IAPS small schools rugby sevens championships held at Oundle School on Sunday.
His St Hugh’s team played extremely well to take the Plate, beating teams from Derbyshire, Surrey, Norfolk and Sussex.
