There was action aplenty in the Boston Netball League...
D-Birds Red 25 Fireflies 15
FIREFLIES showed determination as they started the match with only five players against D-Birds’ full team of seven.
In spite of this, Fireflies defence marked well keeping the scores tied at 4-4 and 8-8 respectively in the first two quarters.
Unfortunately, for Fireflies, D Birds kept pushing hard and with both wing attack and wing defence unmarked.
The match soon started to swing and a string of good shots on goal from Rebecca Hartshorne took D-Birds into the lead and Fireflies began to tire.
Players’ player - Laura Burton (D-Birds).
Flinders Flyers 27
D-Birds Black 11
AN UNRIVALLED performance by Flinders saw them remain at the top with their fourth win in as many games.
Flinders worked well as a team, finishing with some great goals by shooters Alicia Inglis and Sarah Clarke.
D-Birds tried their best to stay in the game and showed some definite improvement as they worked the ball well up court.
Flinders’ defence was too strong and they gained themselves five points.
Players’ player - Leah Bristow (Flyers).
Flexi-Belles 13 Giles 12
Flexi-Belles and Giles are evenly matched, so it was no surprise they earned the first draw on the season.
The Flexi-Belles managed to gain an immediate lead, but Giles remained close behind with strong attack and good movement across court.
With Flexi-Belles one goal ahead at half time, Giles attackers Remy Barnes and Jordan Shinn quickened their pace and it paid off as Giles took back the lead with a further two goals.
A great final quarter ensued as both teams gave it their all, goals being scored at either end and culminating in a draw.
Players’ player - Remy Barnes (Giles).
