YOUNGSTERS from the Lincolnshire Athletics Academy picked up 11 medals at the Lincolnshire County Schools Championship.
Competing on their home track at Boston’s Princess Royal Sports Arena, Sam Smith (Thomas Cowley) finished first in the junior boys’ 800m.
Rosie Marshall (Queen Elizabeth Grammar, Alford) crossed the line first in the junior girls’ 800m.
Two further golds came courtesy of junior boy Ashley Sandall (Thomas Cowley).
He claimed first places in the 200m and 400m.
Fellow junior boy Cameron Marshall (Haven High) was second in the 1,500m.
Kaine Walker (Banovallum) won the 100m hurdles and came second in the 400m hurdles in the intermediate boys’ section.
Fellow LAA athletes picked up silver and bronze placings in the senior boys’ age group.
Daniel Patterson (Spalding Grammar) was second in the 2,000m steeplechase and third in the 3,000m.
Michael Craven (Boston Grammar) was second over 1,500m and third in the 800m.
There were also promising performances for the LAA’s new recruits who are currently completing their induction periods with the academy:
Tiago Torres (Haven High) was first in the junior boys’ high jump.
Lily Hughes (Spalding High) came second in the 100m and 200m at intermediate girls’ level.
Kaine Write (Haven High) came first in the intermediate boys’ 100m and 200m.
Four performances reached entry standards for the National Schools’ Championships in July.
Those came from Kaine Walker (100m hurdles), Ashley Sandall (200m/400m) and Tiago Torres (high jump).
