Ellis cycles to a fifth place

Boston Wheelers veteran Richard Ellis took fifth place in the veterans’ class of the UK Gravity Enduro held in Dumfries at the weekend.

Despite crashing on the first stage, Ellis recovered to finish just one minute behind the category winner.

Meanwhile, the Boston Wheelers held their Open 25-mile Two-up Team Trial on Sunday.

Team Swift riders Jon Surtees and Joel Wainman took the title in a winning time of exactly 45 minutes.

Wheelers’ Simon Place and Nick Chapman came home first in their group in a time of 55 mins 04 mins.

Also competing for the Boston team, Alan Sharpe and Chris Clayton recorded a time of 63 mins 56 secs.

Mick Huskisson and Paul Winrow clocked 61 mins 14 secs and Charlie Porter and Asa Elkington finished in 55 mins 07 secs. Martin White and Earl Taylor (52-25), Maddy Verdegaal and Julie Ellis (58-46) and Darren Smith and Danny Storey (52-47) also competed.

This Saturday, Boston Wheelers travel to Spalding to compete in the Go Ride racing event at Spalding Rugby Club.
