Ferreira sets the BADAC pace in Lincs Cross-country League

Jose Ferreira was the first Boston and District AC member home in the first Lincolnshire Cross-country League match of the season.

He finished the senior, junior, veteran men’s race in 14th at Cranwell, ahead of teammates Andy Walsham (38th), Paul Porter (53rd) and Owen Msimango (58th).

Under 17 Robert Porter and under 15 Thomas Hall both claimed seventh spots.

Hermione Wright overcame illness for eighth in the under 15s girls’ and under 20 Emma Penniston claimed sixth position in the women’s senior, junior, vets race.

In the under 13s boys, Tom Evans was 15th and Matthew Connelly came a place behind.

Five Gold Tops lined up for the start of the under 11s boys’ and girls’ race.

William Wright took an excellent fourth place, being ably supported by Alec Sykes (13th), Hallam Bedford (21st), Ryan Wonnacott (24th) and Ollie Staniland (27th).

Scott Dutten completed the Chester Marathon in 3hrs 57mins 33 secs. while Emma Penniston finished the 13-mile Steeples and Spires multi-terrain trail in 1hr 52mins.
