Boston ABC fighter Aidrianna Finch was given her first taste of the National Schoolgirl Amateur Boxing Association Junior Championships on Saturday.
Boxing in the 46kg division, the 16-year-old was beaten by a unanimous decision, but still won the applause of her conqueror Molly Perkins for her efforts.
Finch was fighting at the Brentwood Boxing Academy in Essex.
Perkins, from Stratford Upon Avon ABC, weighed in right on the limit required to box, being the maximum 2kg over the required 46kg weight for the category. She also had more experience at this level, being a year older and competing in her fourth ABAs.
However, Finch didn’t let this phase her, and throughout the first round the Boston fighter was matching her opponent in every department.
The second round saw Perkins move in front, but Finch is no quitter and extended her efforts in the third.
Perkins was handed the passage to the next round, but still applauded her opponent’s strong challenge.
