Over 100 runners took part in the Bedford 5km parkrun at Bedford Park at the weekend with Gary Finch crowned as the event’s first-ever winner.
Finch earned a new personal best, running 17.40mins, to finish just two seconds ahead of Craig Brown, while Tony Dadd from Bedford Harriers was third with 17.52mins.
Amy Farr (Ampthill & Flitwick Flyers) led the way for the women, with a time of 20.50mins in her first ever parkrun, beating the more experienced parkrunner, Kristy Gunertane by 47 seconds, as she timed 21.37mins. In third was Caroline Anne Devine, from Bedford Harriers, who ran 22.32mins.
The age graded competition saw Dadd lead the field with a score of 78.17 per cent, followed by John Haines with 77.82 per cent and Paul Davies with 76.32 per cent. To participate, register at www.parkrun.org.uk/bedford
