DESPITE being pushed wide by an over-enthusiastic rider on the first lap, Kawasaki Team Green/G&S Racing rider Tom Fisher secured a strong points finish in 11th place at Cadwell Park in round 10 of the Metzeler National Superstock 600 championship on Monday.
In front of a huge Bank Holiday crowd, Fisher recorded 11th place in qualifying to make a start to the 12-lap affair from the middle of the third row.
When the lights went out Fisher got a fantastic start for the Wyberton-based team, but an over zealous move by the rider just behind forced Tom wide and he was pushed back to 17th place.
He took his time to regroup and soon made it through to 15th at the end of lap two.
By lap seven he had moved up to 14th and then to 12th on lap nine.
But before he could make further headway, the red flag brought the race to an early end with Fisher being awarded 11th place and five championship points taking his total to 75.
The points are very close with Tom being a mere seven points away from a top five position in the overall rider standings.
A good set of results in the final three rounds at Donington, Silverstone and Brands Hatch could see him achieve a career best position at the end of the season.
The next round is at Donington Park over the weekend of September 6-9.
This will be the second outing of the year for Fisher at his favourite circuit.
Last time there he notched his best result of the season to claim fourth place, and he is relishing the chance to do this again in two week’s time.
