Boston bowlers are celebrating winning two national titles.

The Boston Indoor Bowls Club’s ladies’ four and and the Lincolnshire under 25s double rink both claimed top trophies.

On Friday the ladies’ four - Sue Simpson-Shaw, Gill Grant, Chelsea Tomlin and Di Wilson - beat Tye Green 30-9 and Oxford and District 23-13, setting up an interesting semi-final with Egham.

After a slow start on Saturday morning, Boston edged in front 18-17 at 18 ends, but finished all square, forcing an extra end.

The Boston front end were shot in the early stages before a running wood from the Egham number three moved the jack out to the back corner of the rink. Chelsea drew shot about three feet away, the Egham skip missed out and Di drew a closer shot which proved too good for the opposition.

In the final they were matched with ex-Boston bowler Bex Field - fresh from winning the Ladies World Matchplay Singles and the National Mixed fours - and her Norfolk clubmates.

Boston hit a purple patch at 9-8 up after 10 ends, running out 25-16 winners.

In between the ladies semi and final, the Lincs team beat Kent in the National Under 25s Double Rink final.

There were four representatives from the town, Alex Tomlin, Jonathan West, Matthew Whyers and Ryan Huskisson in the side.

The rink of Matthew Whyers, Alex Tomlin, Jonathan West and Calvin Leuty won by nine shots and Ryan Huskisson, Ashley Caress, Matthew Orrey and Martin Spencer won by seven.
