Pairs battled it out in the Coronation foursomes and, in perfect conditions, the course proved quite a challenge when straying from the fairways.

But that was not a problem for the winning pair of Joan Young and Jacquie Short, who recorded a score of 39 stableford points.

They will now go on to the regional final.

Claire Rylott and Jane Bratley were second on 36 points, on countback from Ann Hodgson and Julia West.

The return league match away to Spalding saw the match halved.

Playing were Ruth Simpson and Jean Markham, Judith Flevill and Maureen Marshall, Pam Hyde and Anne Wallhead and Chris Needham and Ann Hodgson.

Yvonne Shaffarczyk won the May Medal with nett 75.

Second place went to Lynn Worthington on a countback, as she and Claire Rylott both finished on nett 78.

The nine-hole stableford was won by Liz Harris with 13 points.

Boston Ladies hosted Spalding, and the match was halved.

The Dunhill Islands Trophy was won by Joan Young, who took the trophy with 35 pointsts, which saw her drop her handicap.

Jacquie Short’s 33 points saw her finish as runner-up, with Yvonne Shaffarczyk (32) in third.

The ladies’ section organised an Open Texas scramble Am-Am for teams of men, women and also mixed sides.

Of the 24 teams who entered, the top men’s award went to Jordan Wrisdale, Tom Crozier, Regan McGowan and L. Hallas with 58.3.

Close behind were Jeremy and Nick Woodcock, Ian Evison and Edward Tong with 58.5 and third place went to Dave Manson, R. McDonald, I. McDonald and P. Stocks with 58.6.

A team from Louth, which featured Mick and Gill Leverton, Ian Tyas and Jane Rix, took the mixed prize with a score of 63.6.

In the men’s section, Tom Crozier and Jordan Wrisdale were the top duo as Boston West Golf Club hosted their Ed White Texas Pairs event.
