Francis wins Boston GC’s Langham title

The Peter Langham Trophy was played for at Boston Golf Club this weekend.

Lee Francis won with 41 points.

Seb Hiom was the runner-up with 34 ponts on countback.

J. Miles was third, also with 34.

M. Wood took fourth.

The Fleet Cup, a medal competition, was won by Josh Payne with a nett 67.

M. Jones (70) was second and Lee Beeson (71) third.

The best gross was won by Ryan Austin with 72.

Boston Golf Club’s ladies played a stableford Pink Ball competition.

The format saw three players per team compete with two scores counting - the one assigned with the pink ball, plus one other.

The winning team with 79 points were Ann Gullick, Barbara Unwin and Pam Bett.

In second place were Hilary Calvert, Judith Flevill and Yvonne Wright with 70 points.

The Marian Smith Trophy, for Medal and Stableford winners over the past year, was won by Jean Markham with a score of 92-19=77.

This was enough to beat Ann Hodgson on countback as she scored 96-19=77.

Judith Flevill won the extra medal with 87-15=72 and is now playing off 14.

The Boston ladies hosted Sandilands GC in a friendly match.

A downpour stopped play and, after some consideration, it was decided to end all four matches.

Boston were winning 3-1 when the match ended abruptly.

Anne Sutton won the September stableford with 31 points.

Second on countback was Fran Grant with 27 points from Ruth Street.
