Gill and Markham win Kirton Holme GC Invitation Day event

Invitation Day at Kirton Holme Golf Club saw 44 Ladies play a better ball stableford - and there were some excellent scores.

The winners for 2013 were Chris Gill and Jean Markham with 42 points. In second were Vee King and Trish Lacey with 41 points.

Five pairs all recorded 39 points, but Janet Smith and Pam King claimed third on countback.

Nearest the pin for the guests was Jane Avison, and the club member was Ingrid King. The longest drive for the guests was awarded to Fran Grant and the club member was Kellie Hadland.

The Daily Mail Foursomes qualifier was won by Ingrid King and Jean Belton.

The ladies’ team lost 3-1 at Seacroft.

A nine-hole stableford competition was won by Carol Wilson, with 20 points.

Barabara Slde was second with 17 points, seeing off Pat Marshall on countback.

The 18-hole stableford event was won by Val Richardson, who recorded 31 points.

In second was Yvonne Prior, with 26 points. A total of 22 points saw Paula Kidby finish third.

Jackie Ward’s gross 86, nett 75 saw her win the first monthly medal, ahead of Gill Smith (100, 76) and Yvonne Prior (111/80).

The second medal saw Jean Williamson receive a two-shot handicap and the Sandra Chester Trophy for the best category five player of the month. She claimed victory with gross 99, nett 68.

In second was Sheila Woodhead (107/72) and Barbara Pell came third (87, 72).
