A quartet of young Boston and District Athletic Club distance runners travelled to Nottingham for the National Cross-Country Championships.
The event was held at Wollaton Park, where the young Gold Tops pitted their wits against the finest competitors in their age category across the country.
Two under 13 boys lined up at the start for the demanding race over the undulating parkland course.
Jack Rushby finished a plucky 177th in 12mins 54 secs and William Wright crossed the line in 303rd position in 13mins 52secs.
At uder 15 level Blake Garwell was engulfed in the traffic jam caused by the large number of runners in the race, particularly at the start, and finished a disappointing 281st in 17 mins 48 secs.
Matthew Connolly recorded 21mins 22 secs for 339th position.
