Graves Park are top of the tree at Christmas in table tennis league

GRAVES Park D are top of the tree this Christmas, clinching top place in the AD Dickinson Division Two of the Boston Table Tennis League.

Second spot will be settled this week as Penmaen C, Lodgers H and Penmaen E are all within four points of each another.

Richard Malik and Pete Evans still have 100 per cent records, continuing their runs as Penmaen E beat Sibsey A 7-3.

In reply, Sam Langford, Phil Coote and Jason Cade all beat James Wood.

Two-man Lodgers C suffered a 10-0 defeat against Lodgers H as Boyd Smith, Steve Marshall and Simon Raistrick proved too strong.

Number eight-ranked Steve Hill made the difference for Sibsey B when they beat Lodgers D 7-3, winning all his three in straight sets.

Richard Hill won two games and Wayne Grooby’s one, plus the doubles, secured victory.

Lodgers’ Tony Kime won two and Graham Bonsor added one.

Boyd Smith saved his Lodgers H team from a whitewash when they visited top of the table Graves Park D, beating Dave Walters in straight sets.

Mick Dodes and Graham Walters won their singles for Graves Parkk D.

Lodgers C were the first team to complete their first-half fixtures when they hosted Wrangle B, going down 4-6.

Tim Sampson was on top form for Wrangle, winning his three in straight sets.

Wins for Viv Rynne and Tony Hall, plus the doubles, earned victory. Lodgers’ points came from Pete Truepenny’s brace and single successes from Steve Blanchard and Peter Bell.
