Great Knight for pigeon racing

BOSTON-area pigeon fanciers are still puzzled why, on a day that seemed perfect for racing, their birds made such hard work of Saturday’s 150-mile race from Whitley Bay.

Returns were slower than expected and, in some cases, erratic.

Ray Knight and family, of Old Leake, were the star performers of the weekend when they finished first, second and third in the Boston District club race.
