BOSTON Rowing Club travelled to the Peterborough City Rowing Regatta on Sunday.
Three boats raced, giving four Boston club members their first taste of regatta racing in very sunny and hot conditions.
Holly Morgan and Kate Sutton made their debuts for Boston in the women’s junior 16 years double sculls (WJ162X).
In a straight final, the girls lost out to Peterborough and Rob Roy rowing clubs, but recorded a confident time of 5 mins 14.9 secs.
The girls maintained a steady and consistent pace throughout and look a bright prospect for the future.
The father-and-son double scull partnership of Mark and James Housam raced together for James’ Boston debut, having progressed rapidly into the racing crew.
The double (Nov 2X) gained a third place in their semi-final, beating Cambridge City by four seconds (4:51.6).
Harriet Housam maintained her 100 per cent record for the season in her single scull (WJ181X) when she beat her close rival from Burton Upon Trent and recorded a time of 4 mins 36.3 secs.
The women’s novice quad of D. Sutton, A. West, M. Heaton and G. Roberts could not race due to their competition withdrawing.
Boston Rowing Club will be having a free taster session on June 10 (10am-noon).
Anyone interested should email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the Carlton Road boathouse on a Saturday morning to book a session.
