Sophie Hawkesworth dominated the Ladies’ Section at Kirton Holme Golf Club in May.

She began the month with a handicap of 30.8, but that was to change very rapidly.

Sophie won the Sunday Medal with a gross 98, nett 67, resulting in a two-shot handicap cut.

As the winner of Category Five, Sophie won The Sandra Chester Trophy and, as the Medal winner for the month of May, she received The Elaine Goddard Trophy.

Sophie also triumphed on the Lady President’s Day, winning the overall competition with 38 points and received a prize for the best pair of the day, alongside Sarah Cantwell.

The Rosemary Bell Trophy - a competition in which all medal winners from the previous year play compete - saw Sophie excel, winning with a gross 89, nett 60, resulting in a further handicap cut.

However, because Sophie had achieved three exceptional competition scores, the computer made a further adjustment to her handicap and this now stands at 21.5.
