The unders 12s squad from Boston Hockey Club were in action for the first time in 2014, competing in the latest Lincolnshire round-robin competition.

In action at Lincoln’s Lindum astroturf, they were also making the step up to the top division after winning Division B last time out.

And despite having little time to train together, the side carried themselves well.

Their first game against Spalding Lions saw the first of four 0-0 draws.

The young side created numerous chances but couldn’t find that killer touch in front of goal as they tried to pass the ball in rather than shoot on sight.

The next game against Lincoln A was a more even affair but neither side could get a goal and it was a 0-0 affair.

Boston picked up their first win in the top flight at the expense of Bourne Deeping, Joel Wilson slotting home in the final move of the contest.

Their next game was against another Spalding Tigers side.

This goalless draw saw the impressive Tigers fail to get through a resolute defence of Thomas Scuffham and Morgan Stokes, with keeper Zain Asif making a couple of decent clearances.

At the other end, Marco Gilmour teed up Matthew Bell, but his shot was well saved and William Wright was inches away from scoring from the rebound.

Boston’s next game against Sleaford was the final 0-0 draw.

They lost their final game against Long Sutton, losing 3-0.
