Holme captains are House guests

KIRTON Holme Golf Club captains Rene Sweere and Vee King have been invited to a reception at the House of Commons – as a thank you for their charity fundraising.

The joint captains for 2011 (pictured) helped raise £5,000 for Breast Cancer care – the club’s chosen charity for 2011.

To say thank you, the campaign have invited Vee and Rene to the upcoming event.

The Kirton Holme GC AGM was held this month.

During the evening, presentation of the annual awards were made.

These included: Ladies’ Champion for 2011 - Jackie Ward, Lady President’s Bowl - Marlene Morris, Lady Captain’s Plate - Sarah Cantwell, Birthday Bowl - Mavis Ablard, Rosemary Bell Trophy - Jane Grayling, Jean Cook Knockout Trophy - Jean Cook and Jackie Ward, Lady Captain’s Knockout Trophy - Marlene Morris, Elaine Goddard Trophy - Beryl McDermot, Rylott Bowl (for most improved player) - Jackie Ward, Frost Salver for Endeavour - Rosemary Bell.

The evening also saw the end of Vee’s successful year as Lady Captain as she handed over to Mary Piper for 2012.

The lady members will continue to take part in competitions during the winter season at club level with the Ladies’ Winter League and the Mixed Winter League.

Each week on Ladies’ Day, a variety of friendly club matches have been organised for the winter months.

In addition, a monthly Winter Wanderers event will take place with a trophy being awarded to the winner.
