Both 2011 club captain Rene Sweere and ladies’ captain Vee King, plus their partners, were invited to a champagne reception by the Breast Cancer Campaign in recognition of their contribution to the cause.

Last year the campaign became their annual captains’ charity, with the club raising £5,000.

The unusual June conditions didn’t deter the ladies’ section from competing in the monthly competitions.

The Saturday Stableford was won by Paula Kidby.

She came first with a magnificent score of 42 points and a three-shot handicap cut.

In second place was Andy Thorlby (37) and in third came Jane Grayling (35).

The Tuesday Stableford was won by Sue Beesley (30 points) on countback, ahead of Mavis Ablard and third-placed Betty Gedney (27).

The annual Ladies versus Seniors competition went to the senior section.

The Medal competitions saw excellent scoring.
