Alice Peto scored her first two goals for Boston Hockey Club’s ladies as they beat Horncastle Firsts 3-0.

Captain Katie Beeson was also on target, as the ladies moved up to third in the table.

Boston handed a debut to Hermione Wright and welcomed Sophie Nundy back to the team.

Good movement off the ball saw spaces being created and Boston sdominating early on.

Fowards Lauren Pitts, Akayla Newton, Chris Panton and Wright created masses off space for the midfield of Lauren Harvey, Caroline Chester-O’Neill, Katie Beeson and Peto to push up.

An inch-perfect ball from Chester-O’Neill allowed Peto to score her first goal for the club.

Horncastle were pressing hard to equalise and had their chances, but great tackles and interceptions by Lisa Ceaser, Claire Nundy and Petra Wood - and some good saves by stand-in keeper Kelly Tomlinson - kept the door shut.

After a feisty team talk, the second half was all about Boston wrapping the game up and going home with the three points in this Eastern Hockey League Division 3NW match.

Wright was unlucky not to score but, following a number of short corners, Beeson doubled Boston’s lead.

Boston were playing a slick passing game and they wrapped up the scoring from one such move, where Chester-O’Neill, Peto and Nundy combined, before Peto grabbed her second of the day.

Boston Ladies host table-toppers City of Peterborough Third on Saturday (12pm).
