Boston Hockey Club’s Ladies went down 2-0 in their Lincolnshire League match at Horncastle.
The away side started well, but a loss of composure allowed the hosts to take the lead.
End-to-end play saw Boston try to get themselves back in the contest, and their defence of Petra Wood, Lisa Ceaser and Claire Nundy worked tirelessly throughout the whole match.
Good work in the middle by Sarah Hugill, combining well with Caroline Chester-O’Neill, helped Boston build attacks, feeding through to Tori Needham and Laura Panton.
The attackers earned a couple of short corners, which Boston failed to make the most of.
Horncastle were quick of the break and they scored a second goal before half time.
After the interval, Boston came out bright and were playing how they should have been playing in the first half.
There was some greeat movement by Chester-O’Neill, and she found herself in lots of space, but was unlucky not to score.
More short corners were awarded to both teams, Boston’s defence standing strong while - at the other end - Chester-O’Neill again went close.
The players’ player accolade was shared between defenders Claire Nundy and Petra Wood.
