Hulley and Toy are the new Holme captains

It’s all change! Phil Hulley and Pamela Toy have been named as the new captains of Kirton Holme Golf Club.

They will replace outgoing captains Ian Prior and Mary Piper for 2013.

The switchovers were made at the club’s annual general meeting.

During their year in office, Mary and Ian raised £2,000 for their chosen charity, the Butterfly Hospice Trust.

Pamela, Phil and seniors’ captain David Smith will be raising money for Pilgrim Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit throughout their year in office.

During the annual general meeting, the annual awards were made to the ladies’ section.

The Birthday Bowl was won by Margaret Johns and the Rosemary Bell Trophy was accepted by Marlene Morris.

Jane Grayling and Marlene Morris won the Jean Cook Trophy and the Elaine Goddard Trophy was won by Jane Grayling.

Rylott Bowl - awarded for the most for most improved player - was won by Jane Grayling.

The Frost Salver for Endeavour went to Pam Cook, the Ladies Champion for 2012 was Jackie Ward and the Lady President’s Trophy went to Merna Atkins.

The Lady Captain’s Plate was won by Andy Thorlby and Lady Captain‘s Knockout Trophy by Marlene Morris.

The ladies’ section will continue to take part in competitions during the winter season at club level, with the Ladies’ Winter League and the Mixed Winter League.

Each week on Ladies’ Day a variety of friendly club matches have been organised by the Lady Captain for the winter months, and in addition a monthly Winter Wanderers’ event will take place with a trophy being awarded to the individual winner each month. The first of these will be played in January 2013.

The December Pairs Stableford competition was held at Boston Golf Club this weekend.

The betterball competition was won by Glenn Tyler and Darren Rigby.

In icy conditions they claimed 39 points to finish in first.A point behind in second spot were Graham Sharp and Graham Tillman, winning on countback to see off third-placed N. Woodcock and Philippe Servonat-Blanc. In fourth were Dave Carter and Ben Cuthbert, who also scored 38 points.
