The Boston Rowing Marathon will be held on the Witham this Sunday.

The annual event attracts rowers from across the world, eager to take on the 30-plus-mile course which begins in Lincoln and finishes at Boston Rowing Club’s Carlton Road Boathouse.

More than 150 crews have already entered this year’s event.

But as the entry deadline closed laate on Monday night, organisers were expecting the numbers to rise to more than 200.

Boats will leave Lincoln from 8.30am, with most crews expected to take around three-and-a-half hours to complete.

Crews from the USA, Ireland, Germany have entered, with an Australian crew also hoping to take part in the head race, alongside Boston club members.

The event was first held in 1946, following a pub bet, and has become a tradition.
