Jackie wards off the field to be lady champ

JACKIE Ward has been crowned Kirton Holme Golf Club’s lady champion for 2011.

It has been a good month for Jackie, who also saw a handicap reduction and won a stableford event.

She started the month with another win, this time taking first place in the monthly stableford competition with 41 points.

In second position on countback was Jean Williamson with 40 points and third was Gloria Bursnall, also with 40 points.

All three ladies received a handicap reduction.

The ladies’ league team played away at Tydd St Giles, losing 3-1, but the return match at home was drawn.

In a friendly match the ladies from Eagles visited Kirton Holme, followed by a return match, resulting in a win for Kirton Holme on both occasions.

Kirton Holme ladies visited South Kyme but were defeated 3-1.

The return match is scheduled for September 27.

Twelve ladies from Kirton Holme were welcomed to Sudbrook Moor for their monthly Summer Wanderers competition.

It was a very successful day with plenty of sunshine and good golf.

The winner of the monthly trophy was Janet Smith with 38 points, with Gloria Bursnell winning the nearest the pin competition.

The August medal competitions saw Marlene Morris win with a nett 70.

In second place on countback was Sarah Cantwell with nett 71.

Third place went to Gloria Bursnell, also with nett 71.

In the Tuesday medal, Pam Toy was first with a nett 69 (handicap reduction), second was Phyllis Desmond with a score of nett 70.

In third was Mary Piper with nett 71.

Marlene Morris played in the ladies’ invitational at Sutton Bridge as guest of Carol Whitlam.

The pair came second with a score of 41 points.
