Judith wins Boston Golf Club Rose Bowl

A total of 40 competitors turned out for the Captain’s Rose Bowl at Boston Golf Club.

The event is the last major competition for Lady Captain Julia West to officiate before she hands over her badge to Hilary Calvert on September 25 at the Ladies’ Section AGM.

The Overall winner of the Rose Bowl was Judith Flevill with 39 stableford points.

The Silver Division saw Jacquie Short and Jean Markham finish on 38 points, with Jacqui winning on countback.

Jean won the Nearest the Pin event on the fifth hole, while Claire Rylott claimed third place with 37 points.

In the Low Bronze section, first place went to Yvonne Wright (34 points).

Joan Young was the runner-up (32), with Chris Sherriff (30) third.

Chris won the Nearest the Pin award on the 14th.

In the High Bronze, 31 points saw Pam Bett finish on top, ahead of runner-up Kath Yates (29) and third-placed Gil Reynolds (27).

The Best Front and Back Nine not in the main prizes were awarded to Maureen Marshall (Front, 19 points) and Ruth Simpson (Back, 15).

Jo Burden and David West took the prizes for best guests.

Jo was the Best Lady (32) and David the Best Male (31).

Lady Captain Julia won the September Medal, returning a nett score of 70 and seeing her handicap reduced from 21 to 19.

Pam Hyde, with nett 75, took second place and Anne Wallhead finished third with nett 77.

Julia West and Chris Needham both recorded twos on the 14th hole.

Sam Vickers won the Fleet Cup at Boston Golf Club.

He carded a fantastic medal score of 71 gross to win with a nett 65.

Club Captain Tony Reay presented him with his prize.
