Kidby starts Kirton Holme GC Winter League with victory

The Winter League and Winter Eclectic competitions have begun at Kirton Holme Golf Club.

Paula Kidby won the first round with 26 points.

In second place was Carol Wheeler with 18 points.

Round two was won by Tricia Sharpe with 38 points, ahead of Merna Atkins (32) who beat Yvonne Prior on countback.

The Sunday Medal was won by Jackie Ward with a gross 84, nett 74.

In second place was Lorraine Bush (102/75) and third was Marlene Morris (92/76).

The Tuesday Medal was won by Helen Cook with a gross 98, net 70.

Carol Nundy came second (97/73) and third was Sarah Cantwell (90/73).

The Kirton Holme Golf Club AGM took place earlier this month with Lady Captain Mavis Ablard presenting the awards.

The annual awards were made: Birthday Bowl - Heather Scarboro; Rosemary Bell Trophy - Sophie Hawkesworth; Jean Cook Trophy - Jackie Ward and Jean Cook’ Ladies Champion for 2014 - Jackie Ward; Lady President’s Crystal Bowl -Sophie Hawkesworth; Lady Captain’s Plate - Gill Smith; Lady Captain‘s Knockout Trophy - Sarah Cantwell; Ladies Winter League - Yvonne Prior; Elaine Goddard Trophy - Sophie Hawkesworth; Best Lady in Club Championship - Jackie Ward; Daily Mail Foursomes - Gill Smith and Marlene Morris.

In the mixed matches the following trophies were awarded: Malcolm Jelly Shield - Sophie Hawkesworth and David Carter; President’s Mixed Foursomes - Gill and Vic Smith; McCartney Trophy - Yvonne Prior, Ian Prior, Ian Turner, Nigel Wainwright; Claret Jug - Anthea Hall and Dan Thomas; Couples Cup - Sarah Cantwell and Kevin Hawkesworth; Mixed Pairs Matchplay - Elaine and Paul McCartney.
