Liberated from Lerwick! Pigeon fanciers run season’s longest race

The longest race of the season for pigeon fanciers competing from the north finally got underway when birds were liberated from Lerwick, in the Shetland Islands.

Outright winner in the North Road Championship Club was the father and son partnership of Frank and George Bristow, of Horbling – Frank’s second victory in the prestigious King’s Cup race.

Leading local lofts were Richard Manning, George Watts, George Wheatman, Mr and Mrs Brian Garnham, Dariusz Pelka, Dave Brackenbury and the John Hardy-John Burt partnership.
