Lodgers G earned a 9-1 victory at stablemates Lodgers E in the Boston and District Table Tennis League.. but the match was closer than the scoreline suggests.

Lodgers G were already assured of second place in Division One, but the two-man E side were up for a scrap.

In the first match, Mark Hulme was beaten in straight sets by Graham Lacey, which certainly put the G team players on guard.

Kelvin Clements and Gary Hill won their singles at the expense of Hulme and Colin Bell, but they were made to earn their win.

In the AD Dickinson Division Two, Sibsey A climbed into fifth place in the league with a fine 8-2 victory over fourth-placed Wrangle B, both Jason Cade and Phil Coote enhancing their reputations by winning their three.

Tim Sampson and Tony Hall enjoyed more success against Sam Langford, both winning in five sets, while David Butler went down in four.

The doubles was a quiet affair, Sam and Jason combining well to beat David and Tony in straight sets.

Lodgers H travelled out to Belchford, knowing that a good result could bring them into contention with Wrangle B for third place in the league.

Simon Raistrick played his part in the 10-0 victory, winning his three in straight sets, putting Lodgers H on level points with Wrangle, but with a game in hand.

Gavin Read dropped sets against Peter Hughes and Brian Todd, while Scott Raistrick had a fine three set win over Peter.

Brian, however, caused Scott far more problems.
