Lodgers slip down the table tennis table

SOME big scores were recorded in the Boston and District Table Tennis League’s Yates & Greenhough Division One - with Lodgers B losing out on third place to Graves Park C.

l Graves Park A 8 Lodgers B 2: FOURTH-placed Lodgers B came down to earth with a bump when they visited Graves Park A, with just Tim Day managing to win his team’s two points.

He beat Phil Brooks and Nick Langley but lost to Rob Smith.

Trev Blackbourn and Vic Clements drew blanks in their singles.

l Lodgers E 7 Penmaen D 3: LODGERS E beat bottom-placed Penmaen D 7-3.

Graham Lacey won his three in straight sets, but both Gavin Herberts and Adam Elston took him to deuce in the third end, while Colin Bell lost in five ends to Gavin, and was taken to five legs by Adam.

Steve Harker scraped home in five against Adam but lost out in straight sets to Gavin and Darron Kent.

The doubles was another five-setter, Colin and Graham beating Gavin and Adam.

l Graves Park B 1 Graves Park C 9: MIKE Freeston kept Graves Park B from an embarrassing whitewash when they played their C team, beating Martin Walters in four, while Mick East and James Quinton negotiated their singles with few problems, James then teaming up with Martin to win the doubles.
