Sarah Stanhope has marked her arrival on the weight lifting scene in style.
The 20-year-old, from Wrangle, came third in her category at the English Championships last month... in just her second competition.
Sarah has been a successful hammer thrower, but she has taken a break from athletics to concentrate on weight lifting.
In December Sarah, who is currently studying sports science in Loughborough, entered the British Weight Lifting Central Championships and came first in the 69kg category, after only three months of serious training.
This saw her qualify for the English Championships where, although disappointed with her total weight lift of 102kg, Sarah managed to come third.
Weight training has been a large part of Sarah’s athletics training over the past seven years.
And, after really taking to the sport, she decided to make that her main priority, taking a step back from the hammer throw.
