BOSTON and District AC distance runner Jose Ferriera ran in the New York Marathon.
In a field of more than 35,000 competitors, he finished 108th in his age group and 4,156th overall in the men’s category of the event.
Jose was a little disappointed in his time of 3 hrs 24 mins 11 secs as he was hoping to achieve a finish closer to three hours for the marathon distance.
He found the New York course more hilly than he had expected, making the last six miles very hard work.
Determined to achieve a time nearer to his three hour target for the marathon distance, the Gold Top runner will continue to set his sights on better performances in the future.
l DENNIS Rainbow competed in the Scunthorpe Open Cross-country event on Sunday, finishing 11th in the Combined Senior Veteran and Men’s race.
The BADAC distance runner found the course challenging, taking the contestants through a series of woodland paths and up one particularly steep incline.
On the same day, two Gold Tops competed in the Market Rasen Remembrance Day 10K event, part of the West Lindsey race series.
Ian Scott was first finisher for the club, recording 44 mins 53 secs, with Tony Tomlin crossing the line in 53 mins. David Scott ran well in the children’s competition.
